VBD Presentation

Viral videos of Black people, usually Black men, being murdered at the hands of law enforcement have become commonly shared, posted, and played across various social media platforms. The purpose of this research was to explore the psychological impacts of exposure to Viral Black Death, feelings of connectedness to racial identities on ten Black women between the ages of 18-30. This research sought to understand the function of Black women’s racial identities when exposed to viral Black Death. Since most of the research in this area focuses on Black men, the research set out to look specifically at Black women and how they were being impacted by conducting in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was used to code and analyze the data set. This presentation is an overview, explanation, and discussion of the impacts of VBD on Black women and overall implications.
